Introvert
When I was starting out as a photography student teachers told us that we had to go out into the streets of SF to rally people to sit in front of our cameras, that that was the only way that we would find interesting faces to photograph.
As a lifelong introvert, you can only image how I felt about the idea of going up to strangers and dealing the potential rejection that our teachers pressured us to subject ourselves to everyday. I’m proud to say that I’ve done this over the years and have had both good and not so good results. However, I recently came by perhaps the most humble of compliments a few weeks ago after finishing up a shoot for a another project that I am currently producing.
Amigos
As a photographer one of the best qualities that you can find in a friend is the love of being photographed. Lucky for me I had the opportunity to shoot two portraits one for a fellow San Francisco based photographer, Dustin Soriano, and the other a directing student named Daniela Bornstein. These two lovely people were assisting me on a shoot and after the shoot I looked toward the set and found them jumping into the model’s chair to have their portraits taken.
It was such a compliment to have other professionals willingly placing themselves in front of my camera, especially without me asking. I’m not sure that they realize how humbled I am for their actions, but I am forever grateful.
