I find that children tend to be brutally honest, they say exactly what they think and don't consider the consequences of their words.
No matter how good or bad their actions and gestures, they all come from an honest place.
For those of you who believe that you can discover a lot through a person's eyes, I'm right there with you. What better way to discover who a person is than through the eyes of their younger self.
When I first started shooting this project, all of my images looked forced and set up, two qualities that I prefer to avoid in my work. As a result, I decided that the best way for me to open and expose my true self to my audience was by using this picture of me in the 3rd grade.
Compared to the others I shot these were simple and sweet. There is no stress or strain, no expectations to live up to, just me, myself, and I.
It turns out that all I needed to make these images a success was my big comfy sweater, my forever favorite pair of jeans, and of course, my younger self.
